Pay Range: $20–$26 per hour

Initial Training Rate: $20–$21 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications

Assistant Center Director Starting Rate: $22 per hour after successful completion of training

Future Growth: $22–$26 per hour based on performance, experience, and expanded responsibility

Training Period: Approximately 30–60 days, based on demonstrated readiness

Schedule: Approximately 35–37 hours per week, including weekday afternoons, evenings, and some weekends

• We are looking for a dependable, coachable, and growth-oriented Assistant Center Director candidate who wants to build a career in education, leadership, customer service, sales, and center management.
• At Mathnasium, we do more than help students complete worksheets. We help students understand mathematics, build confidence, strengthen critical-thinking skills, and discover what they are capable of becoming.
• This opportunity is designed for a recent university graduate or another qualified candidate with strong availability who is ready to take on meaningful responsibility. Previous management experience is not required. We will train the right person.
• This is not simply a tutoring position. The Assistant Center Director helps connect students, parents, instructors, enrollment, operations, and management. You will begin by learning the center from the instructional floor and then progress into broader leadership responsibilities.

Your Training and Career Path

• New hires will begin with a brief period working and training as a Mathnasium Instructor. This hands-on experience allows you to learn the Mathnasium Method, understand the student experience, become familiar with center standards, and build credibility with the team before assuming broader leadership responsibilities.
• The instructor training period generally lasts approximately 30–60 days. The training rate is typically $20–$21 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
• Candidates who successfully complete training and demonstrate readiness are expected to transition into the Assistant Center Director role within approximately 30–60 days. Upon successful transition, pay will increase to $22 per hour.
• Advancement is based on demonstrated readiness and successful completion of training expectations, not time alone. After transitioning into the Assistant Center Director role, employees may progress from $22 to $26 per hour based on sustained performance, increased capability, relevant experience, and the level of responsibility they are prepared to own.

About the Position

• The Assistant Center Director is a developing center leader. This position combines student instruction, parent communication, staff leadership, enrollment, and daily center operations.
• You will work directly with students and instructors while helping the center operate successfully. Responsibilities include supporting student assessments and individualized learning plans, monitoring student progress, coordinating schedules, maintaining documentation, communicating with families, coaching staff, following up with prospective families, and assisting with daily administration.
• This position also includes sales and enrollment responsibilities. Our approach is not to pressure families. We listen carefully, understand their needs, explain how Mathnasium can help, follow up professionally, and confidently ask families to enroll when the program is a good fit.

What You Will Do

Support Student Success

• You will help students learn through the Mathnasium Method and create an environment where they feel welcomed, encouraged, and appropriately challenged.
• You will monitor student engagement, support instructors, assist with assessments and learning plans, track student progress, and help students build confidence, perseverance, independence, and stronger problem-solving skills.
• Our goal is not simply to help students complete more work. Our goal is to help them understand mathematics and leave each session more confident than when they arrived.

Build Strong Relationships With Families

• You will communicate professionally with parents about their child’s progress, experience, and opportunities for continued growth.
• You will listen carefully to concerns, provide clear updates, follow through on commitments, and involve senior leadership when additional support is needed.
• Strong parent communication involves more than discussing worksheets and scores. You will help families recognize improvements in confidence, critical thinking, perseverance, independence, and willingness to attempt challenging work.

Support Enrollment and Center Growth

• You will respond promptly to inquiries from prospective families, schedule assessments and consultations, explain the value of the Mathnasium program, and help families make informed enrollment decisions.
• You should be comfortable speaking with parents, asking thoughtful questions, addressing concerns, discussing program options, following up consistently, and asking for an enrollment decision when appropriate.

Lead and Develop the Instructional Team

• You will help guide instructors during center hours by answering questions, monitoring the instructional floor, reinforcing expectations, and providing respectful coaching.
• You will support new employees as they learn the Mathnasium Method and center standards. You will model professionalism, preparation, ownership, and reliability.
• As your capabilities grow, you will help train others, improve consistency, and reduce the center’s dependence on one manager for every question or problem.

Support Center Operations

• You will help maintain a center that is clean, organized, safe, welcoming, and prepared for students and families.
• Responsibilities may include opening and closing procedures, scheduling, parent communication, student notes, supply organization, technology, training support, administrative work, and other duties required to operate the center effectively.
• We expect leaders to notice what needs attention and help address it rather than assuming someone else will take care of it.

A bachelor’s degree is preferred. Candidates approaching graduation or those with equivalent experience, strong availability, and demonstrated leadership potential may also be considered.

Qualifications

• Strong math competency through at least Calculus I
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn new systems
• Availability to work approximately 32–37 hours per week
• Availability during weekday afternoons, evenings, and some weekends
• Willingness to learn customer service, sales, staff coaching, and center operations
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a busy learning environment
• Previous experience in tutoring, education, customer service, sales, or leadership is helpful but not required

Applicants must complete a math literacy assessment demonstrating proficiency through at least Calculus I, provide documentation of authorization to work in the United States, and successfully complete a background check as permitted by applicable law.
