Primary Purpose Assist the Head Start Campus Manager in the overall administration of the program. Ensure compliance with all department policies, division procedures, Head Start Program Performance Standards, Child Care Licensing Minimum Standards, and other local, state, and federal regulations in partnership with the Campus Manager.
Qualifications Education: • Associates degree from an accredited college or university in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a related field • Bachelors degree from an accredited university in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a related field (preferred)
Certifications: • Must complete training and obtain certification in Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) and recertify annually • Must demonstrate proficiency annually in the child screening and assessment tools
Special Knowledge and Skills: • Advanced knowledge of early childhood education and child development best practices as identified by the National Association for the Education of Young Children • Ability to mentor teaching teams through identified Head Start mentor practices • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills • Excellent problem-solving skills • Ability to use a variety of software, including Microsoft suite
Experience A minimum of three years of classroom experience working with young children ages 0 to 5 years in a Head Start program or other early childhood education program.
Major Responsibilities and Duties Provide leadership and supervision to the campus staff, foster teamwork, and encourage active involvement in implementing the HCDE Head Start mission, vision, and values.
Review, analyze, and interpret Head Start monitoring reports for use in campus-based decision-making, with particular focus on child outcome data.
Ensure that communication is disseminated appropriately to campus staff in a consistent and documented manner and that staff needs and concerns are shared with appropriate personnel as needed.
Provide leadership in all areas of classroom instruction through modeling, observation, and consultation with teaching staff to support highly individualized teaching and learning.
Ensure that teaching staff have the resources and materials needed to support program goals.
Ensure that students are screened and assessed in accordance with HCDE Head Start policies and procedures.
Support on-going recruitment, enrollment, and attendance monitoring to ensure full enrollment and student participation throughout the school year.
Assure that student and staff files are complete and accurate.
Maintain all Child Care and Adult Food Program CACFP records accurately to ensure full reimbursement.
Maintain information in the Head Start databases.
Assist in implementing the center budget in accordance with budgetary guidelines.
Review, analyze, and interpret Head Start monitoring reports to lead campus-based decision-making.
Effectively identify, document, and respond to staff performance issues, including needs for professional development and/or progressive disciplinary action.
Supervise the maintenance, repair, safety, and security of the Head Start facility, materials, and equipment to ensure a safe and healthy environment for Head Start children, families, and staff.
Conduct ongoing campus monitoring and audits to ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, HCDE procedures, Child Care Licensing Minimum Standards, and other local, state, and federal regulations.
Provide mentoring and support for the development of staff that promotes upward mobility within the program and/or organization.
Meet Head Starts in-kind goals established for the campus.
Maintain confidentiality of information.
Perform other duties as assigned.
