Medical Manufacturing Company in Carlsbad. Hiring a Assistant Buyer! 

The Assistant Buyer will provide administrative and operational support to the purchasing department. This role focuses on ensuring the steady flow of materials by managing purchase orders, maintaining supply levels, and coordinating with vendors to meet production goals.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Generates purchase orders and purchases assigned components in a multi-plant environment in support of production schedules. Places orders with vendors, updates and maintains PO delivery dates to ensure ETA accuracy.
Confirms pricing, availability, and lead times, reviews open requirements, monitors supplier delivery schedules, and expedites orders when necessary.
Runs inventory reports in ERP systems and excel. Proactively reviews material delivery schedules and troubleshoots part shortages to prevent manufacturing stock-outs.
Maintains and measures purchasing and supplier key performance metrics, specifically tracking supplier lead times and on-time delivery.
Partners with Finance and Accounts Payable to review invoices, ensure documentation is complete, and promptly resolve any A/P invoicing discrepancies.
Coordinates the return, replacement, or processing of defective, non-conforming materials (MRB)
with Quality Assurance and suppliers. Ensures the purchasing department adheres to all ISO procedures and processes.
Analyzes freight costs, logistics, and transportation types (e.g., LTL, LT, air, rail, ground) to determine the most cost-effective delivery methods.
Ensures proper management of all purchasing records per company policy.
Coordinates all new vendor setup requests and manages the disposal of excess material through brokers as needed.
Performs root cause and corrective action activities on systemic issues that arise.

Education, Experience, Skills, & Abilities:
A minimum of 1-2 years of related purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment, GMP,
Medical Devices experience is a plus.
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or a related field is a plus.
Working knowledge of ERP/MRPII/MRP planning systems
Experience with ISO 9001 and 13485 Quality systems (preferably in a medical device environment).
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ERP systems required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with
external suppliers and partners as well as all levels within the organization.

Salary: $24.00/$25.00/hr DOE
