CLASS SUMMARY: Under supervision of the Chief Building Inspector, this position performs highly responsible administrative, supervisory and technical work for the division. Performs primary oversight and management for all Plan Review activities and the maintenance of Customer Service Standards within the division, as they support the Chief Building Inspector in the supervision and managing of personnel within the division. The Assistant Building Official shall also act as the Chief Building Inspector in his/her absence.
TYPICAL CLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)
Assists in supervision of staff and assists with oversight of the day-to-day operations of the building department.
Oversees the Plan Review Process and staff, monitoring timing and accuracy of reviews.
Provides technical direction to Senior Inspectors and staff to ensure compliance with state & local codes and ordinances.
Guides staff in providing high quality customer service to residents.
Performs essential duties of Chief Building Inspector in his/her absence.
Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance, including attendance at required meetings.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of experience working within a municipal building department, or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of job such as those listed above.
