Position Title: Assistant Bookkeeper
Location: Downers Grove, IL (On-Site)
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | On-site 5 days per week
Compensation: $47,000 – $53,000 annually
Reports To: Finance Manager(s)
Position Summary
The Assistant Bookkeeper plays a key role in supporting Finance Managers and ensuring accuracy in financial reporting and daily accounting operations. This individual must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide bookkeeping and administrative support for Finance Managers
- Perform daily operations in QuickBooks
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Complete bank reconciliations regularly
- Process returned checks and maintain accurate financial records
- Handle client expense reports
- Manage email and mail deposits for clients
- Download and track daily bank deposits; update deposit sheets
- Enter and print checks as needed
- Process incoming and outgoing mail
- Support multiple managers and prioritize competing tasks effectively
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field OR equivalent work experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, practices, and procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks
- Must have hands-on experience with QuickBooks within the last 3 years
- Must have experience performing bank reconciliations
- Ability to multitask and effectively support multiple managers
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- High level of professionalism and attention to detail
