The division represents state agencies and employees in tort cases. Attorneys handle cases from inception through resolution with support from paralegals and investigators.The Torts Division has offices in Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia (Tumwater), and Spokane and offers telework in a hybrid work environment.ResponsibilitiesAttorneys in the Torts Division are responsible for maintaining and applying a comprehensive knowledge of procedural and substantive law, working productively with client agencies, developing and executing legal strategy, engaging in all aspects of affirmative and defensive discovery, communicating case developments, leading a trial team of professional staff, conducting jury and bench trials, and handling appeals. The work is demanding, stimulating, and rewarding.Familiarity with diverse tort cases, including premises liability, medical negligence, employment discrimination, motor vehicle accidents, and maritime injuries, is important.QualificationsGraduated from an ABA‑accredited law school or completed the WSBA Rule 6 Law Clerk Program; licensed to practice law in Washington State.
