General DescriptionOAG Antitrust Division is seeking to hire an experienced, self-driven attorney capable of thriving in a collaborative work environment and independently overseeing cases with complex legal and factual issues. The Antitrust Division is charged with investigating and prosecuting violations of the Texas Free Enterprise and Antitrust Act and federal antitrust statutes. The Division's caseload consists of highly complex and high-profile investigations and litigation which may involve antitrust violations such as monopolization, conspiracies among competitors, or anticompetitive mergers. Matters investigated or litigated can be local, regional, or national in scope and may be coordinated with other state attorneys general, the Federal Trade Commission, or the U.S. Department of Justice. Licensed attorneys with a demonstrable interest and/or experience in antitrust enforcement or litigation are encouraged to apply.Essential Position FunctionsConduct entry level to complex antitrust and related litigation in both state and federal courtsInitiate and conduct antitrust and related law investigations, including directing investigator and economist activityProvide antitrust and related information to state and local governmentsPerform all phases of civil litigation of antitrust cases including drafting petitions, motions, pleadings, orders, briefs, discovery, and memorandumPerform or direct legal research and report findings and conclusionsAssist in or coordinate others in preparing cases for trialRepresent the Office of the Attorney General before state or federal district and appellate courtsPrepare or coordinate the preparation of legal briefs, pleadings, and other legal documentsProvide legal advice, counsel and assistance to client state agencies, local prosecutors or law enforcement entitiesCommunicate with representatives of state agencies and consumersAnalyze entry level to moderately complex factual and legal issues and develop evidence for filing of antitrust casesPerform related work as assignedMaintain relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functionsAttend work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work scheduleEnsure security and confidentiality of sensitive and/protected informationComply with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrityManage a high volume of litigation cases and investigationsAssist with training and mentoring less tenured staffMinimum QualificationsEducation: Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor (JD) degreeLicensed to practice law by the State Bar of TexasMember in good standing with the State Bar of TexasThree years of full-time experience as a licensed attorney working in antitrust, complex civil litigation, or commercial litigationKnowledge of antitrust law and legal principles and practicesSkill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlinesSkill in effective oral and written communicationSkill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision makingAbility to receive and respond positively to constructive feedbackAbility to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environmentAbility to provide excellent customer serviceAbility to work in person at assigned OAG work location and perform all assigned tasks at the designated OAG workspace within the OAG work location, and perform in-person work with coworkers for the entirety of every work week (unless on approved leave)Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travelAbility to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSAAbility to travel (including overnight travel) up to 5%Preferred QualificationsExperience in antitrust matters or other document-intensive complex civil litigationKnowledge of laws and legal principles and practices relevant to Texas and federal antitrust and trade regulations statutesAbility to provide expertise in specific and relevant areas of law to Executive Administration, division management, and division attorneys; handle or direct high-profile and/or complex litigation affecting the Antitrust Division; and serve as a mentor to division attorneys#J-18808-Ljbffr
