Job Duties This individual will analyze, investigate, and prosecute suspected violations of state and federal consumer lending statutes, including statutes that address:
In addition, the individual will have responsibility for analyzing, investigating, and prosecuting violations of other state and federal consumer protection laws, including the Virginia Consumer Protection Act.
Must have excellent writing skills and be prepared to appear in the appropriate state or federal court in actions filed against alleged violators. Will work with representatives of the State Corporation Commission Bureau of Financial Institutions and federal consumer protection agencies on referred matters. Periodically provide legal advice to the Office of Charitable and Regulatory Programs, assist in drafting official opinions, review proposed legislation, and work with counterparts in other states.
