Summary The assistant athletic trainer is responsible for all phases of operation of the athletic training room and services helping to administer 26 highly-competitive NCAA Division III varsity sport teams. The assistant athletic trainer develops coordinates and administers a comprehensive sports medicine program for Colleges intercollegiate sport teams. The assistant athletic trainer will also perform professional and administrative services essential for the successful implementation and development of the program. Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for the prevention evaluation management and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses within the colleges comprehensive sports medicine program. Provide athletic training services for the Colleges athletic department including attendance at scheduled team practices and home competitions. Handle distribution of athletic training coverage at away athletic events and championship tournaments as necessary. Work in conjunction with the coaching staff to ensure safety in the design and implementation of fitness nutrition and conditioning programs customized to meet individual student-athlete needs. Work with team doctors to deliver care to student-athletes Administrative Serve as the primary contact for the athletic departments Athletic Trainer System an electronic health record system. This position is responsible for confidentially overseeing all content entered into ATS. Assist with coordination and scheduling of medical coverage for home and away competitions Evaluate and recommend new techniques and equipment that would enhance the benefit of the sports medical program. Handle proper communication between the student-athlete and coaching staff on rehabilitation and recovery processes. Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required National Athletic Trainers Association certification Knowledge of athletic training principles and practices. Knowledge of injury management principles. First-aid and CPR certification Knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Knowledge of insurance claims management principles. Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs. Skill in the management of student records. Skill in the provision of athletic training services during sporting events. Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions. Skill in oral and written communication. Supervisory Responsibilities This position is responsible for supervision of student undergraduate athletic trainers and work-study student assistants.
