Job Summary

The Assistant Athletic Director for Strategic Partnerships reports directly to the Sr. Associate Athletic Director for Revenue Generation. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the external affairs of the department of athletics with an emphasis on external partnerships. This position will work closely with other external initiatives, including the Cardinal Athletic Fund, marketing, media relations, and ticketing

Essential Job Functions

Corporate Partnerships and Revenue Generation:

  • Develop and implement the Athletics Corporate Partnership Program strategic plan.

  • Manage existing sponsorships while identifying and securing new corporate partners.

  • Oversee the tracking, evaluation, and fulfillment of sponsorship agreements.

Event and Game Day Operations:

  • Coordinate all special athletic events.

  • Provide direct support for game day operations, including suite management and sponsorship fulfillment.

Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Serve on the senior leadership team and contribute to departmental strategy.

  • Act as a sport administrator for assigned programs.

  • Collaborate with ticketing, marketing, fundraising, licensing, and multimedia rights.

Compliance and Mission Alignment:

  • Ensure all activities align with the mission and vision of the Cardinal Athletic Fund and Lamar University.

  • Maintain compliance with NCAA, conference, and university policies.

  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Minimum and Desired Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a field relevant to the position summary and essential job functions.

  • 1-3 years progressively increasing responsibility and experience working with external corporate partnerships in college or professional sports or equivalent.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree preferred.

  • 3+ years progressively increasing responsibility in external corporate partnerships in college or professional sports or equivalent.

  • Proven track record in building and maintaining positive professional relationships with various corporate sponsors and stakeholders.

  • Proven experience and success in finding innovative and creative opportunities to engage multiple constituencies.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop corporate partnership strategies and plans, goal setting, monitoring, and follow-through effectively.

  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of individuals and stakeholders and contribute to a collaborative professional environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • This position required sitting and standing for extended periods of time and lifting up to 25 pounds while performing the essential functions as described within the essential job functions.

Job Conditions:

  • Duties are typically performed within athletics facilities and other buildings or outdoors.
