Assistant Athletic Director of Media Relations

Your Role on the Team: Under the general direction of the Deputy Athletic Director of External Affairs, the Assistant Athletic Director of Media Relations will be responsible for various duties with the Media Relations office including, but not limited to, serving as liaison between coaches, student-athletes, administrators and representatives from the media, campus and community. This position will also assist with the planning, execution and evaluation of specific projects related to relationships between Intercollegiate Athletics and the external campus community. The position will work closely with the Media Relations staff as well as the staffs in Development and Marketing in defining and prioritizing specific objectives and strategies for external support and communication.

What It Takes to be Successful: Required: Knowledge of the concepts, principles and technical aspects of media relations and communications including broadcast communications. Knowledge of principles and practices in crisis and emergency communications. Strong understanding of best usage of print, broadcast and online media. Strong interpersonal and written communications skills. Solid skills in management to effectively plan and organize work, establish processes and motivate staff to high levels of productivity and quality. Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training 3-5 yearsworking in collegiate athletics communications Preferred: Knowledge of the university and athletics and the vision, mission, goals, objectives, infrastructure, programs, policies, and achievements.
