The Civitas Institute at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for tenure-track and tenured faculty positions in Humanities to begin in August 2026.
The Institute seeks to fill several tenure-track and tenured faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Full Professor to start in the 2026-2027 academic year. Applications are welcome from all relevant disciplines, including:
• History • English • American Literature • Political Science • Particularly the history of political thought • Classics • Religion
A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree is required. A complete application must include:
• A curriculum vitae • A cover letter, which addresses research agenda and teaching interests and competencies • A sample of scholarly writing within the last three years • Three letters of recommendation
Screening of applicants will begin on February 16, 2026, and will continue until the position is filled.
