Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) School of Dentistry in New Orleans seeks nominations and applications for the position of Assistant or Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs. The chosen title of Assistant or Associate Dean will be commensurate with training and experience. This position reports to the Dean of the School of Dentistry and has the responsibility of administration, implementation, and coordination of the clinical activities of the school. The Assistant/Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs is responsible for the broad oversight of patient admissions and management, dental equipment repairs and replacement in the clinic and pre-clinical areas, central sterilization and instrumentation, dental supplies and materials, central laboratory services, clinical staff, electronic health record, and faculty practice. Additional responsibilities include liaison to the Louisiana State Board of Dentistry and the coordination of the licensing exams given at the school. Candidates must possess a DDS or DMD degree, highly developed academic leadership skills and have a minimum of 3 years of experience in management of a major unit within a dental school. Direct reports to the position include patient care coordinators, electronic health program manager, administrative assistant, directors of clinical staff and clinic operations, and manager of faculty practice.
