Overview:

The Department of Pathobiology in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University is seeking applications for the position of assistant/associate clinical professor of veterinary clinical pathology. This faculty position will be a 12-month, clinical-track position.

 

The Clinical Pathology Laboratory is located within the Wilford & Kate Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital, facilitating open communication with clinicians and veterinary students. Diagnostic samples are submitted for evaluation from both the large and small animal teaching hospitals, outside veterinarians, the Raptor Center and a variety of researchers. Collaborating diagnostic services within the Department of Pathobiology include anatomic pathology, parasitology, microbiology, virology/serology, and molecular diagnostics.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for excellence in clinical diagnostic service in Auburn University’s Clinical Pathology Laboratory. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the training and supervision of clinical pathology residents and graduate students, and the clinical training of veterinary students. Opportunities for engaging in didactic training throughout the veterinary curriculum and for collaborative research are encouraged.

Minimum Qualifications:


Minimum qualifications include D.V.M. (or equivalent) at the time employment begins, have completed residency training in clinical pathology from the ACVP (or equivalent) and be a Diplomate of ACVP (or equivalent including the European College of Veterinary Pathologists, the Royal College of Pathologists and the Japanese College of Veterinary Pathologists) or qualified to sit for the ACVP certifying examination at the time employment begins. Protected time for boards preparation will be provided to board eligible candidates.

  • A terminal degree at the time of employment.
  • Candidates must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time of appointment and continue working legally for the term of employment.

 

Desired Qualifications:


The successful candidate should exhibit excellence in diagnostic service, small group instruction, and interpersonal communication. Experience in diagnostic test development, or scholarship of teaching and learning is desirable, but not required.
