Job Summary/Basic Functions

The University of Mary Washington, an NCAA Division III institution located in Fredericksburg, VA, seeks applicants for Assistant Athletic Trainer position. The University is part of the state system of Virginia and enrolls approximately 5,000 total students. Fredericksburg is a vibrant and historic city located just off Interstate 95 halfway between Washington, DC and Richmond, VA. This is a full-time, eleven-month position reporting to the Head Athletic Trainer. The assistant athletic trainer will be responsible for the prevention, evaluation, treatment, referral, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses sustained by student-athletes. Specific duties include, but not limited to, assisting the daily health care of student athletes; recording and maintaining appropriate medical records, appropriately communicating with administrators, coaches, support staff, team physicians, and other medical personnel; and other duties as assigned.

Required KSAs/Competencies/Qualifications

Basic computer skills Ability to provide acute and emergency care Ability to create therapeutic interventions Ability to perform needed administrative tasks in electronic medical records system Ability to provide patient-centered care Ability to communicate effectively with staff, coaches, and student-athletes Ability to work as part of a team-centered environment

Required Experience: 1-3 years in an athletic training setting

Required Licensure: BOC Certification and CPR/AED/First Aid for the health care professional Must be eligible for state license through the VA Board of Medicine

Additional Considerations: KSAs CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) CPR/AED Instructor Working knowledge of Division III Athletics

EDUCATION

Bachelors degree in Athletic Training from a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) accredited program Masters degree in associated field

Experience 3-6 years of experience in a college or secondary school setting
