Position: Assistant Afterschool Director
Location: Bronx
Partnership with Children provides critical integrated student supports including counseling, school-wide services, and family and community outreach in high-poverty, New York City public schools so students can reach their full potential. Partnership with Children is seeking an Assistant Afterschool Director who along with the Afterschool Director will be responsible for maintaining the day-to-day administration and supervision of the Middle School Afterschool Program at South Bronx Academy for Applied Media. The Assistant Director shares responsibility for hiring, training and supervision of staff and volunteers, program, and budget development, and maintaining program quality and records.
Responsibilities:
Work with the Afterschool Director, hire, train, develop, and directly supervise part-time employees and volunteers, and evaluate program staff to ensure that program goals are in alignment grant and funder requirements
Assist in the development and facilitation of staff orientation, team huddles, professional development and participate in regular staff meetings as well as coordinate program schedules of staff and recipients.
Assist with the development of programs which focus on physical, recreational and educational needs of participants
Assists with oversight of program vendors and sub-contractors
Work closely with school administration to ensure that afterschool programming aligns with the needs of the school community, offering a wide range of enrichment programming
Assist the Afterschool Director in organizing school events including but not limited to the Annual Back to School Event, Open House, and other school related events that contribute to the collaboration and strengthen the school and community partnership
Respond appropriately to emergencies ensuring proper protocols, documentation, follow-up, as well as assessment and when necessary, adjustment of protocols; procedures; and expectations.
Perform conflict mediation and crisis intervention as needed.
Ensure program compliance in accordance with SACC) NYCPS, DOH, OCFS and DYCD
Ensure that enrollment is maintained including systems of recruitment, attendance, and data entry
Maintains timely and consistent communication with all appropriate stakeholders.
Completes other duties and leads special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
Associate of Arts Degree or Associate of Sciences Degree, or working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, Psychology or related fields
At least 2 years of experience working with children under the age of 13
At least 2 years of supervisory and management experience developing and implementing youth and community development programs, staff training and development
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to navigate and manage multiple stakeholders
Ability to work in fast-paced environment, flexible, organized and can-do attitude
Excellent time management skills, coupled with a strong sense of urgency to get things done without sacrificing accuracy and ethical behavior
Strong qualitative and quantitative data analysis and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook, Canva, Zoom, Adobe PDF Editor
Knowledge of DYCD CONNECT is a plus

Salary & Hours:
$60,000.00 to 65,000.00 Annually
Full Time/Year-round position
Assistant Director's schedule varies based on program needs: 40 hour work week, typically10:00am-6:00pm. Must be available to work evenings and Saturdays (as needed); school holidays, and school recesses

This position is fully in-person and does not offer any remote work.
