The Assistant Accounting Manager II is responsible for overseeing the accounting function and ensuring the precision, thoroughness, and timely delivery of financial reporting provided by our offshore/outsourced partners. This position plays a vital role as a liaison with our offshore/outsourced accounting teams, facilitating effective collaboration and communication.
Key Responsibilities
Manage 17 to 20 properties and serve as the final reviewer of financial statements, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of reports prepared by offshore partners.
Effectively manage the monthly financial close process for assigned properties, ensuring completion by the 15th of each month. Workload is cyclical, with peak demands during month-end close, quarter-end reporting, and audit season. This role requires increased time commitment and intensity during those times.
Participate in quarterly property management financial review meetings to share insights, address inquiries and offer necessary support or corrective actions as necessary.
Perform audit and tax reviews for assigned properties to ensure the accuracy of the financial reports.
Oversee annual reporting for AOE/LP, Form 571, and unclaimed property.
Assist in preparing annual budgets.
Work closely with the Property Managers to address banking inconsistencies related to rent collection, ensuring that cash receipts are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
Review and validate vendor invoices processed by Accounts Payable to ensure they are accurate, properly coded, supported by documentation, and in compliance with approval requirements.
Oversee and process replacement reserve draw requests and residual receipt distributions, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.
Ensure effective communication with offshore accounting teams, review deliverables promptly to meet quality standards, and provide feedback to promote continuous improvement.
Review intercompany payment calculations to Headquarters.
Assist in the training and onboarding of new employees.
Identify areas for process improvement and provide recommendations for enhancements.
Participate in company-sponsored events aimed at team development, which may occasionally require overnight travel.
