SUMMARY:
This position serves as the business-side configuration specialist for the Cascade Enterprise Asset management/Computerized Maintenance Management System (EAM/CMMS) application. The role is responsible for maintaining accurate and reliable asset, equipment, and maintenance data by configuring system structures, inspections, triggers, and integrations that support maintenance planning, regulatory compliance, and operational decision-making. The position works closely with Engineering, Field Operations, IT Services, and external vendors to ensure the Cascade application functions effectively and aligns with business, operational, and compliance requirements. This is a functional application role and does not include IT infrastructure or database administration responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Configure and maintain Cascade application setup, including asset structures, locations, stations, equipment records, positions, inspections, triggers, and maintenance workflows.
Serve as the business-side system owner for configuration standards and data structure governance
Evaluate and prioritize configuration requests to ensure data integrity, system reliability, and alignment with operational and compliance requirements.
Work with Engineering, Project Management, Field Operations, and other business groups to gather equipment and station information.
Build and maintain accurate equipment, station, location, and hierarchy records in Cascade, including nameplate data, classifications, and required attributes.
Ensure assets are properly linked to positions and inspection programs so maintenance and compliance activities are generated correctly.
Support and maintain integrations between Cascade and related systems such as Powerbase, RTS, Cascade Mobile, and DTA. Coordinate with IT Services and the Cascade vendor to troubleshoot issues, test enhancements, support upgrades, and validate configuration changes prior to production deployment
Ensure Cascade configuration and data entry adhere to established data governance standards, audit requirements, and regulatory obligations.
Review and validate configuration changes to prevent adverse impacts to compliance reporting, maintenance schedules, and asset visibility.
Partner with data stewardship and compliance teams to support audits and data quality initiatives.
Provide functional guidance and training to business users on proper Cascade usage and processes.
Develop and maintain documentation related to configuration standards, system processes, and best practices.
Assist users in understanding how configuration and data entry affect maintenance execution, reporting, and compliance outcomes.
COMPETENCIES:
Advanced knowledge of EAM/CMMS systems, including configuration, asset hierarchy design, inspections, triggers, and maintenance workflows (Cascade preferred).
Strong understanding of utility asset management, including station and equipment data, maintenance programs, and operational dependencies.
Ability to interpret engineering documentation and translate technical and operational requirements into accurate system configuration and data structures.
Experience supporting application-level integrations and coordinating testing and validation activities.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to data quality, system reliability, and compliance impacts.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical business users.
Ability to exercise independent judgment while adhering to governance, audit, and compliance requirements.
Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, including Engineering, Project Management, Field Operations, IT Services, and external vendors.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field preferred; a minimum of seven to nine years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and or/experience related to the discipline.
Demonstrated experience configuring, supporting, or maintaining EAM/CMMS systems; Cascade experience preferred.
Experience working with utility asset data, engineering documentation, maintenance programs, or field operations data.
Experience with application-level configuration concepts such as configuration control, security roles, data imports, and environment management.
ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY:
Analyzes and evaluates complex system, data, and process-related issues associated with the Cascade EAM/CMMS application and its integrations. Reviews engineering documentation, operational requirements, maintenance programs, and data relationships to determine appropriate configuration, data structure, or corrective actions.
Exercises judgment in identifying root causes, assessing potential impacts to system functionality, maintenance scheduling, reporting accuracy, and compliance obligations. Resolves non-routine issues through analysis and coordination with internal subject matter experts, IT Services, and vendors as appropriate.
DECISION MAKING:
Exercises independent judgment in day-to-day decisions related to Cascade configuration, asset and equipment data setup, inspections, triggers, and process implementation. Determines appropriate courses of action within established policies, procedures, and governance standards.
Decisions with potential enterprise-wide, regulatory, or cross-functional impact are coordinated with management, IT Services, and other stakeholders. The role operates with moderate latitude for independent action while adhering to escalation protocols.
SCOPE AND IMPACT:
This position has a significant impact on the accuracy, reliability, and effective use of the Cascade EAM/CMMS application, which supports asset management, maintenance planning, regulatory compliance, and operational decision-making across multiple business units.
Configuration and data decisions directly affect maintenance scheduling, inspection execution, reporting accuracy, and audit readiness. Errors or omissions may result in operational inefficiencies, reporting gaps, or compliance risk. Effective performance supports data quality, system reliability, and cross-functional coordination.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment utilizing a computer, software applications, and other office equipment. The position requires sustained periods of sitting, visual concentration, and use of a computer keyboard and mouse while performing system configuration, data analysis, and coordination activities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Occasional travel to substations, operating locations, or field offices may be required to support system validation, data verification, process reviews, or coordination with engineering and field personnel.
The role may require participation in meetings, testing activities, or issue-resolution efforts outside of normal business hours during system upgrades, deployments, or critical support situations. Physical demands are primarily sedentary, with occasional walking, standing, and light lifting of materials weighing up to 10 pounds.
