Keep production moving through smart planning
Reliability is built long before a technician turns a wrench. Imagine walking a line with a production lead, negotiating the ideal downtime window, and launching a maintenance job where every part, tool, and skill is ready. That’s the craft of this role.
Plan smarter
- Assess non-emergency work requests, confirm scope, and visit job sites to understand constraints.
- Estimate labor hours and skill sets; identify required parts, materials, equipment, and any special tools or auxiliary gear.
- Gather and validate technical information: drawings, schematics, specifications, spare parts lists from equipment histories, OEM manuals, and Knowledgebase content.
- Verify part availability prior to scheduling so work starts on time.
Schedule with purpose
- Lead weekly planning and scheduling meetings with Production to set priorities, report status, and shift planned maintenance when conditions change.
- Keep an orderly, prioritized backlog with a Ready Backlog maintained at or above 80%.
- Publish a Weekly Technician Schedule that fully loads 100% of available technician labor hours with priority planned jobs and preventive maintenance tasks.
Elevate the system
- Improve job plans through continuous improvement to enhance accuracy, safety, and effectiveness.
- Use review processes and maintenance metrics to raise planning and scheduling performance.
- Maintain thorough records and files for reliable analysis and reporting of maintenance activities.
- Train and support site employees on the CMMS, ensuring data integrity and strong utilization.
About you
- Associate Degree in a technical discipline plus 1–3 years in maintenance planning/scheduling; or 5–10 years as a machine repair technician; or an equivalent combination.
