Transforming our most foundational sectors of society is hard. Very hard. But we’re building an empire. And empire building is not easy. It’s deeply fulfilling, and you will learn and grow tremendously while driving sustainable impact globally with some of the largest players that make everything we eat, use, and wear. Our culture is to foster extraordinary growth within our teammates. We believe in autonomy, ownership, empowerment, demanding excellence, being mission-driven. We believe in creativity, authenticity, and extraordinary growth. We’re looking for relentless, ambitious, creative, and exceptional people to join our team and build the factory of the future.

We’re seeking a Hardware Assembly Engineering Technician whose work will focus on new R&D system assembly and bringup alongside the Laminar Hardware Team. You will work closely with Senior Engineers across both the Hardware and Embedded Systems teams to rapidly evaluate new technologies, test performance of sensing systems, and integrate them into field prototypes. This role will perform PCB assembly and testing along with basic firmware development, documentation preparation and research. We value a self-sufficient, hands-on engineer who isn’t afraid to ask questions and learns new skills quickly. Your work will directly impact our hardware product design, improve prototype iteration speed, and help Laminar to save more resources every day.

  • Work closely with Hardware and Operations teams to improve component accounting and tracking
  • Develop and implement test strategies alongside the HW Reliability Engineer. Collect and present this data in informal and formal reviews to allow for rapid analysis and sensor comparisons and debugging.
  • Bring new organizational approaches and a can-do attitude to new HW assemblies.
  • Contribute to the overall hardware team by providing design, assembly, and debug assistance on multiple projects

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Clear, efficient, and respectful communicator, good at balancing multiple projects and shifting priorities

Preferred

  • Extensive project or work experience in electronics design, chemical process engineering or industrial product design
  • Experience working with PCB contract manufacturers, machine shops both domestic and international and full Box Build CMs
  • PCB design experience with microcontrollers, industrial communications protocols and analog electronics
  • Significant prior experience navigating the balance between “move fast and break things, but not the important things”
