Job Summary

C.R. Jackson is hiring an Asphalt Quality Control Lab Technician to support our asphalt production and quality control operations. In this role, you will help ensure our asphalt materials consistently meet project specifications, state requirements, and the high-quality standards our customers expect.

You'll work alongside plant personnel, quality control teams, and operations leadership to test materials, analyze results, and maintain accurate records. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, has strong attention to detail, and takes pride in producing a quality product.

What You'll Do:

  • Perform laboratory testing on asphalt mixtures, aggregates, and other construction materials
  • Conduct quality control testing in accordance with company, state, and project specifications
  • Analyze test results and communicate findings to plant personnel and supervisors
  • Prepare, maintain, and calibrate laboratory testing equipment
  • Collect and process material samples from asphalt plants and job sites
  • Maintain accurate testing records, reports, and quality control documentation
  • Assist with troubleshooting material and production issues that may impact product quality
  • Ensure compliance with quality control procedures and testing standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous laboratory, asphalt, construction materials testing, or quality control experience preferred
  • HMA Level 1 certification preferred, or willingness to obtain
  • Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to understand and follow directions
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with basic computer programs and data entry
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Willingness to occasionally visit plant and field locations as needed
  • Willingness to work overtime, nights, or weekends as required
  • Commitment to safety and proper use of PPE
  • Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry material samples, testing equipment, and laboratory supplies up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and perform repetitive testing procedures
  • Ability to work in laboratory, plant, and outdoor environments as needed
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to dust, noise, heat, and varying weather conditions during sample collection
  • Ability to climb stairs and access elevated plant areas when necessary
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings and equipment for safety
