Asphalt QC / QA (Experienced and Certified)

Position Summary

C.R. Jackson is seeking an experienced and SCDOT certified QC/QA Technician to support our asphalt operations by ensuring materials and processes meet all project specifications and SCDOT standards. This role is critical to maintaining the quality, safety, and performance of our work across multiple job sites and plant operations.

We are looking for a knowledgeable, detail-oriented professional who takes pride in producing high-quality work and is ready to contribute immediately.

What You'll Do

  • Perform quality control testing on asphalt materials (plant and field)
  • Conduct sampling and testing in accordance with SCDOT specifications
  • Monitor plant production and field placement for compliance
  • Maintain accurate records of test results and daily reports
  • Communicate results and adjustments with plant operators, crews, and supervisors
  • Identify and troubleshoot mix or compaction issues in real time
  • Ensure all testing equipment is properly calibrated and maintained
  • Support continuous improvement in quality processes and procedures

What We're Looking For

  • Required Certifications (at least one):
  • SCDOT Roadways Certification
  • SCDOT HMA Level 1 Technician (or higher)
  • Additional certifications strongly preferred
  • A minimum of 1 year proven experience in asphalt QC/QA (plant and/or field)
  • Strong understanding of asphalt mix design and production processes
  • Ability to interpret specifications and apply them in real-world conditions
  • Solid math and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork mindset
  • Reliable, safety-focused, and detail-oriented
  • Applicants from the Columbia area preferred
  • Willingness to work weekends, nights, or overtime, if required
