The Heavener School of Business (HSB) is seeking an individual to join our team as the Associate Director, Student Engagement for the Experiential Learning Department in the Heavener School of Business. This position serves as the primary administrator for undergraduate business student led, co curricular experiential learning initiatives associated with the Heavener School of Business, with responsibility for oversight of external business related student organizations, leadership councils, and a signature high impact experiential learning program. The role includes direct advising and administrative leadership of the Business College Council, management of compliance, risk, budgets, and assessment, and the development of learning outcomes aligned with Heavener competencies. This position provides mentorship and leadership coaching to student leaders, coordinates with campus partners and alumni, and advances program branding, alumni engagement, and continuous improvement efforts. As a member of the Heavener School of Business Experiential Learning Department, the role contributes to long term planning, evaluation, and strategic direction for experiential learning programs within the department, while supporting other initiatives that further the mission of the Heavener School of Business and the Warrington College of Business.

Key Functions and Responsibilities Include:

External Co-curricular Management: Manage relationships and compliance of co-curricular experiential programming that exists external to the Heavener School of Business. This includes the following: 

  • Provide appropriate resources and support to identified business-related student organizations.
  • Ensure compliance with UF regulations, policies, and procedures and maintain best practices for student organization engagement. Must be able to interpret University policies and be committed to remaining up to date on policy.
  • Serve as an administrative liaison with the Department of Student Activities and Involvement regarding student organization support and management.
  • Develop and maintain processes, in alignment with policies, for communication with student organization leaders, and resources provided by Heavener School of Business (e.g., website presence, Gator Ready presence, use of facilities, use of advertising resources, etc.).
  • Engage with appropriate departments, colleagues, and partners external to the Heavener School of Business to enhance and capture undergraduate student experiential learning related to student organizations.
  • Develop, as appropriate, learning outcomes associated with student involvement/engagement outside of Heavener School of Business and ensure that learning objectives align with Heavener competencies.
  • Collaborate with student leaders to ensure that organizational activities are included in Gator Ready, and that student organizations are engaged in the competency development efforts of HSB.
  • Provide crises intervention and manage risk as appropriate.
  • Maintain relevant data and accurate and complete records of participants, leaders, and outcomes of student organizations.
  • Prepare, manage, and track budget as it relates to these responsibilities.
  • Prepare reports on students and activities as required by Heavener and WCB administration.

Experiential Learning Program Management: Manage a high-impact experiential program that exists withing the Heavener School of Business Experiential Learning Department. This includes the following:

  • Design, develop, and oversee the program for the Heavener School of Business.
  • Plan and direct participant and leadership recruitment efforts for the program.
  • Ensure compliance with UF regulations, policies, and procedures and maintain best practices for student development and engagement. Must be able to interpret up-to-date university policies and regulations as they relate to the program.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership coaching to the student leadership and participants of the program members as needed.
  • Coordinate and manage the logistical operations of the program, in coordination with the HSB Events Coordinator as appropriate.
  • Formulate and administer program policies to ensure the program runs effectively and smoothly.
  • Innovate and advance the program so that it is recognized as a high -impact program. This includes branding efforts targeted at current and past members, alumni, corporate partners, and stakeholders within the HSB and WCB. Stay up to date on benchmark research on similar programs at top undergraduate business schools; learn from other programs and offer insights from ours as appropriate.
  • Develop learning outcomes associated with the program to ensure that learning objectives align with Heavener competencies; connect the program to strategic HSB initiatives.
  • Create and execute plan to communicate and engage with alumni; coordinate alumni outreach and strategic development of alumni engagement. Collaborate with the development office on these efforts.
  • Engage with appropriate departments, colleagues, and partners external to the Heavener School of Business to enhance and capture student experiential learning as appropriate.
  • Provide crises intervention and manage risk as appropriate.
  • Maintain relevant data and accurate and complete records of participants, leaders, and outcomes of the program in conjunction with Director, Competency Development and Program Evaluation.
  • Prepare, manage, and track budget as it relates to these responsibilities.
  • Prepare reports on students and activities as required by Heavener and WCB administration.

Experiential Learning Program Management: Manage the department sponsored student organization, Business College Council (BCC). This includes the following:

  • Design, develop, and oversee the curriculum for this engagement opportunity, including defining and implementing which organizations may be members of the BCC.
  • Assist BCC with planning and practice of recruitment/enrollment activities and events. This includes events that are essential to the HSB experiential learning programs such as Business Bash.
  • Prepare, manage, and track a program budget for BCC. Provide leadership and fiscal training for student leaders (lead team members with fiscal decision-making roles) in BCC. Collaborate with the VP of Finance within BCC to document expenses and track budget.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership coaching to the executive board on a weekly basis, through select individual meetings with key leaders and attendance at weekly executive board meetings.
  • Serve as a liaison with HSB support staff to assist student leader coordination and management of meeting and activity space reservations for university registered business-related student organization.
  • Attend appropriate BCC programming to provide leadership, guidance, and counsel to the lead team as needed.
  • Serve as the administrative liaison for BCC.
  • Prepare reports on students and activities as required by Heavener and WCB administration.
  • Develop learning outcomes associated with the program to ensure that learning objectives align with Heavener competencies; connect the program to strategic HSB initiatives.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership coaching to the student leadership and participants of the program members as needed.
  • Coordinate and manage the logistical operations of the program, in coordination with the HSB Events Coordinator as appropriate.
  • Develop learning outcomes associated with the program to ensure that learning objectives align with Heavener competencies; connect the program to strategic HSB initiatives.

Assist with overall mission of Heavener School of Business, Experiential Learning Department, or Warrington College of Business. This may include:

  • Teach one or more Warrington Welcome (GEB 2015) sections annually.
  • Assist with Experiential Learning or Heavener School of Business programs (e.g., awards banquets, educational sessions, program facilitation, etc.).
  • Participate in and support various events for undergraduate business students, including University commencement ceremonies.
  • Act as a faculty advisor to undergraduate business student organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of the Heavener School of Business, Executive Director of Experiential Learning department, or direct supervisor.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm in Gainesville, FL.
  • Regular evening and some weekend events.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Master’s degree in appropriate area of specialization and four years of relevant experience or a bachelor’s degree in appropriate areas of specialization and six years of relevant experience.

Preferred:

Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 5 years relevant experience.
