AS9100 Quality Inspection Planning Specialist

Imagine launching a new program where every Key Characteristic is captured, every inspection step is crystal‑clear, and every quality record stands up to audit. As our AS9100 Quality Inspection Planning Specialist, you’ll design the plans, methods, and systems that make that possible—end to end from suppliers to final release.

Your mission

• Transform engineering intent into inspector‑ready documentation with measurable criteria and acceptance standards.
• Engineer risk‑based ICPs spanning incoming, in‑process, final, and special inspections; set sampling strategies and inspection frequencies aligned with customer, drawing, and AS9100 requirements.
• Configure and sustain inspection characteristics, routings, and records in SAP to ensure accurate execution and traceability.
• Identify and control KCs, SCs, and critical items; partner with Engineering to resolve any ambiguities or conflicts in requirements.
• Select the right measurement and test methods; define fixtures and verification sequences to meet industry and customer standards.
• Coordinate with Metrology/Calibration so gages and fixtures are available, capable, and calibrated.
• Define incoming inspection and special verification expectations; align suppliers to internal standards.
• Prepare/support AS9102 FAI packages, ensuring every drawing characteristic is covered and sequenced; initiate partial or full FAI re‑accomplishment when changes dictate.
• Author and maintain revision‑controlled check sheets, visual work instructions, and quality alerts that are auditable and available at point of use.
• Apply SPC/capability analysis tools when helpful to drive data‑based decisions and continuous improvement.

What you bring

• 5+ years of manufacturing/quality experience within cross‑functional teams.
• Strong GD&T interpretation; proven ability to translate requirements into unambiguous inspection criteria.
• Hands‑on precision measurement skills; exposure to CMM or optical inspection.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, inspection SOPs, and NCR/containment processes.
• Exceptional organization and crisp written communication.
• Track record partnering with QC Inspectors, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Program Management to align requirements and schedules.
• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident; familiarity with ITAR.

Bonus points

• Experience in fast‑moving or multi‑shift environments and NPI launches.
• APQP familiarity (Control Plans, PFMEA, PPAP).
• SPC/capability analysis with Minitab/Excel.
• Associate’s degree in Quality, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Proficiency in SAP for inspection planning, routings, and quality notifications; Microsoft Office and ballooning/inspection planning software.
