    AS9100 Metrology & Quality Assurance Specialist (CNC)

    Core responsibilities

    • Inspection ownership: Conduct first article, in-process, and final inspections across machined parts.
    • Print interpretation: Translate engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T into actionable inspection plans.
    • Metrology execution: Utilize micrometers, calipers, height and bore gages, indicators, thread and plug gages, and related instruments to verify compliance.
    • Conformance verification: Check critical dimensions, tolerances, surface finishes, and customer deliverables.
    • Documentation accuracy: Complete inspection reports; ensure travelers, work orders, and material certs are correct and traceable.
    • Nonconformance control: Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming material; support rapid disposition.
    • Corrective action support: Contribute to root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action activities.
    • Cross-functional collaboration: Partner with CNC machinists, manufacturing engineers, programmers, and quality engineers.
    • Systems compliance: Adhere to AS9100, customer requirements, and internal procedures; follow calibration and process controls.
    • Continuous improvement: Engage in initiatives that elevate quality and reduce defects.
    • Housekeeping & safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe inspection environment.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent; technical education preferred.
    • 2+ years in quality inspection within precision machining or manufacturing.
    • Proven ability to read complex mechanical drawings/blueprints.
    • Strong grasp of GD&T and dimensional inspection best practices.
    • Proficient with micrometers, calipers, height/bore gages, indicators, thread/plug gages, and similar tools.
    • Demonstrated experience with FAI, in-process, and final inspection activities.
    • Familiarity with inspection documentation and nonconformance reporting.
    • Detail-oriented, well-organized, and quality-driven.
    • Basic computer literacy for digital records and quality documentation.
    • Independent workstyle with strong team collaboration.

    Preferred experience

    • Inspection of aerospace or other high-precision machined components.
    • AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 QMS exposure.
    • CMM operation (execute existing programs; review CMM reports).
    • Knowledge of CNC milling, turning, grinding.
    • Continuous improvement and root cause participation.

    Physical requirements

    • Standing and walking for extended durations.
    • Ability to lift/move up to 35 pounds.
    • Fine motor control and visual accuracy for precision measurements.
    • Adherence to safety practices in a manufacturing setting.
