Akkodis is seeking a AS/400 COBOL Developer for a Contract with a client in San Antonio, TX. The ideal candidate will develop and support mission‑critical AS/400 applications by maintaining COBOL/RPG systems and optimizing DB2 performance on IBM.
Rate Range: $45/hour to $49/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
AS/400 COBOL Developer Job Responsibilities include:
Develop, enhance, and maintain AS/400 (IBM i) applications using COBOL, RPG/RPGLE, and DB2.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex batch and interactive processing issues in business‑critical systems.
Design, maintain, and optimize DB2 data models, indexes, and advanced SQL queries for performance.
Support production releases, CI/CD processes, and ongoing application maintenance on the IBM i platform.
Collaborate with cross‑functional and modernization teams to integrate legacy AS/400 systems with newer technologies.
Analyze requirements, debug defects, and ensure system reliability, scalability, and compliance with development standards.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
8-10 years of hands‑on experience developing and supporting AS/400 (IBM i) applications.
Strong expertise in COBOL, RPG/RPGLE, and DB2 on the iSeries platform, including advanced SQL performance tuning.
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex batch and interactive processing issues and integrate legacy AS/400 systems with modern applications.

Pay Details: $45.00 to $49.00 per hour
