Part-Time Art Teacher

Northfield Campus | 15-18 Hours Per Week

About the Role

The Part-Time Art Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering engaging visual arts instruction that encourages creativity, exploration, and artistic growth. The ideal candidate will create a welcoming classroom environment, develop age-appropriate lessons, and collaborate with school leadership and teachers to support student success.

Working approximately 2-3 days per week, this position plays an important role in enriching the student experience through the arts and helping students express themselves through a variety of artistic mediums.

Essential Responsibilities

Art Instruction & Student Engagement

  • Plan and deliver engaging visual arts lessons that encourage creativity, self-expression, and skill development.
  • Develop lesson plans, course outlines, and instructional materials aligned with school goals.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Communicate with parents regarding student progress, achievements, and classroom participation as appropriate.

Program Development & Collaboration

  • Partner with the Principal and school staff in the development and implementation of the Fine Arts program.
  • Support and enhance the school's visual arts curriculum.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate artistic learning experiences when appropriate.
  • Contribute ideas and expertise to strengthen arts programming across the school community.
  • Ensure art instruction aligns with the mission and values of the school.

Resource Management

  • Maintain and organize art materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Assist with purchasing and inventory management to support program needs.
  • Promote a safe, organized, and engaging learning environment.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, Education, Liberal Arts, or a related field.
  • Background in visual and fine arts.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary school team.
  • Ability to work on-site at our Northfield campus.

Preferred

  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or Illinois Substitute Teaching License.
  • Prior experience teaching visual arts in a school setting.
  • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs.
