Woodlands is seeking an innovative, collaborative and self-directed individual for the position of elementary art teacher for our organization. The successful candidate must have a passion for creating an artistic environment that fosters learning and personal growth; to help students develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continued art education and/or appreciation. This position provides creative opportunities for all students in a variety of mediums. The candidate must adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet the needs of all students in a fair and equitable manner. The candidate must integrate culturally responsive practices into their classroom.

Started in 1936, Woodlands School is a public charter school through the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Content area instruction is standards aligned, rigorous, and provides opportunities for project based learning and real world connections.

Position Requirements:

Bachelor Degree in Education

Licensure: Teaching license from Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Art (1550) teacher license or have the ability to obtain this license by the start of the 2026-27 school year

Desire and ability to work with students at the specified age level with diverse backgrounds and levels of ability toward accomplishing their educational goals.

Ability to organize tasks and manage time to meet many and varied deadlines; manage small and large groups of students in a classroom environment; and communicate effectively with students, parents, school administrators, and other staff, including the ability to discuss topics which may be sensitive.

Knowledge of educational software.
