Location: Deerfield High School

Stipend: Category 10 (from August though end of school year)

Summary:

Art Club members are able to explore their artistic interests with guidance from the sponsor. There is room for individual experimentation and inquiry into different facets of art and also the option of structured assignments. Art Club has a history of being a place to recruit students into the visual art program at DHS.

Qualifications:

• The Art Club sponsor should have teaching certification in the area of visual art and expertise in a variety of disciplines within visual art.
• Current staff member of DHS

Time Commitment:

• Meet once a week throughout the school year.

General Expectations for Sponsors

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with students to develop a meeting agenda and goals for the year.
• Empower student-led exploration across artistic mediums and styles.
• Facilitate hands-on projects and critiques.
• Maintain a safe and well-resourced studio environment.
• Connect students to opportunities beyond the classroom.

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated annually by the Student Activities Director and/or Principal in accordance with district policies.
