Job Description Summary

The facility attendant will report to the Recreation Supervisor.

This individual will be in a leadership role of an assigned recreational area and serve as a mentor to the youth at the facility.

This position is expected to supervise, instruct, and participate in Community Recreation programs and activities. They will assist in organizing recreational activities; be responsible for equipment and supplies used in the assigned area; and be responsible for keeping accurate attendance records.

This position will ensure the safety of patrons, enforce rules of the facility, and provide a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Employees in this position work under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, and their work is subject to frequent inspection and review by supervisory personnel through meetings and attendance reports. Will perform other duties as needed and/or assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 yrs of age
  • Ability to work with youth in various program activities.
  • Participates in planning & organizing recreational activities.
  • Has knowledge of, or ability to learn, the principles, rules, material & equipment required for a variety of recreational activities
  • Has knowledge of, or ability to learn, rules & equipment associated with the sport or activity taking place.
  • Has the ability to receive and give routine instructions.
  • Able to calmly resolve disputes with firmness, fairness, and impartiality.
  • Able to communicate with people of all age groups and large groups.
  • Able to run, jump, bend, and stoop to participate in athletic activities.
  • Able to lift and carry supplies/equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to perform other duties as needed and/or assigned by supervisor.
  • Must follow the established dress code.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Multiple positions available in this drop-in style after-school & summer setting. Opportunities for weekend work may be available to assist with building monitoring during rentals, other activities, and special events.

Temporary/Seasonal employees do not qualify for sick, holiday, or vacation pay. Paychecks are issued bi-weekly.
