About the Opportunity

A highly successful, privately held homebuilder is seeking an Area Manager (formal title will be Project Managerto oversee multiple new home communities across the Dallas–Fort Worth market. This is a senior, area?level leadership role responsible for driving results across sales performance, construction execution, warranty, and customer experience.

While the formal title is Project Manager, the scope of this position is what many production builders consider an Area Manager or Multi?Community Construction & Sales Leader. This role is ideal for experienced leaders who have managed multiple builders (construction managers) and sales teams simultaneously and want broader ownership, visibility, and career runway.


Role Overview

Following a comprehensive onboarding and cross?functional training program covering sales, construction, warranty, finance, and operations, the Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • 3–6 active residential communities

  • 150–300+ annual home closings

  • Leadership of 15–30 professionals, including:

    • Construction Managers / Builders

    • New Home Sales Consultants

    • Project Coordinators

    • Warranty and Customer Service staff

This role operates with true area?level accountability, including responsibility for budgets, performance metrics, and cross?functional alignment.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop high?performing teams across construction, sales, and warranty

  • Create alignment between field operations and sales commitments

  • Establish accountability, performance expectations, and leadership bench strength

Sales & Market Execution

  • Drive community?level and area?wide sales, absorption, and closing goals

  • Partner with sales leadership to execute pricing, incentives, and merchandising strategies

  • Increase market visibility and competitiveness of assigned communities

Financial & Operational Ownership

  • Own area?level P&L performance

  • Develop and execute an Annual Operating Plan

  • Manage budgets, control expenses, and identify margin?improvement opportunities

  • Monitor production schedules, cycle times, backlog, and delivery performance

Construction, Quality & Customer Experience

  • Ensure homes are delivered on schedule and to quality standards

  • Oversee warranty performance and customer satisfaction metrics

  • Proactively resolve escalated operational or customer issues

External & Cross?Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with land development, entitlement, design, and architectural teams

  • Work with municipalities, inspectors, utility providers, and review boards

  • Support long?term growth through strong execution and relationship management


Ideal Background

Required Experience

  • 3–5+ years in a leadership role within new home construction and/or new home sales

  • Experience overseeing multiple active residential communities

  • Proven success leading construction managers/builders and sales teams

  • Demonstrated experience managing to budgets and P&L metrics

  • Strong working knowledge of production homebuilding operations from start to close

Preferred Experience

  • Prior roles such as Project Manager, Construction Manager, Area Manager, Regional Manager, Director of Construction, or Director of Sales

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Finance, or Real Estate

  • Stable work history with a consistent progression of responsibility
