Job Title: Architectural DesignerJob Description

This role offers an experienced architectural designer the opportunity to lead and contribute to complex projects while working in a collaborative and growing studio environment. The architectural designer will develop design concepts, prepare detailed construction documents, and ensure that design intent is clearly communicated through drawings, models, and renderings. The position requires a strong command of Revit, a solid understanding of building systems and codes, and the ability to operate independently while mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities

  • Develop design concepts and translate them into clear drawings, models, and renderings that communicate design intent.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and refine comprehensive construction documents using Revit.
  • Ensure that construction documents align with applicable building systems and building codes.
  • Conduct site visits to observe existing conditions and verify field measurements.
  • Perform field verification and existing conditions assessments to inform design and documentation.
  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate architectural solutions with other disciplines.
  • Operate independently on assigned tasks and manage portions of projects with minimal supervision.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior staff, supporting their professional growth and development.
  • Contribute to the quality control of drawings and documents to maintain accuracy and consistency.
  • Support the progression of projects through all phases, from concept design through construction documentation.

Essential Skills

  • 5-7 years of experience in the architecture field.
  • Proficiency using Revit for design, modeling, and construction documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience producing complete and coordinated construction documents.
  • Strong architectural design skills with the ability to develop and refine design concepts.
  • Working knowledge of building systems and how they integrate within architectural designs.
  • Understanding of building codes and their application in design and documentation.
  • Ability to operate independently and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Effective communication skills to clearly convey design intent through drawings and presentations.
  • Ability to conduct site visits, perform field verification, and assess existing conditions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or a closely related field.
  • Experience working on higher education projects is a plus.
  • Actively working toward architectural registration or licensure.
  • Experience mentoring junior staff and contributing to a collaborative team culture.
  • Interest in contributing to a growing office and participating in long-term professional development.

Work Environment

The role is based in an office environment of approximately 60 team members within a growing architectural practice. The position follows a hybrid schedule, with in-office work required three days per week (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday) and remote work available for the remaining two days. The team uses Revit and related digital tools extensively for design, modeling, and construction documentation. The work involves a mix of desk-based design and documentation tasks and occasional site visits for field verification and existing conditions assessments. The environment emphasizes collaboration, professional growth, and exposure to higher education projects, offering opportunities to work closely with colleagues at various levels of experience.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boston, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $39.00 - $46.00/hr.
