Our primary focus is Department of War, Government, and Industrial clients. ZAPATA is seeking an Architect II to work in either our Charlotte, NC or Atlanta, GA office.Position Summary:This position requires a registered architect with a broad skill-level and knowledge of architectural concepts to assist in design and construction phase services for a variety of project types, including architectural design and detailing for building systems and interdisciplinary coordination. The candidate should possess leadership skills to plan, execute and manage project scopes, schedules and budgets.Responsibilities/Duties:Assists the project delivery process for small to mid-scale Government, Commercial and Industrial projectsDevelops and/or reviews design documentation in accordance with project expectationsPrepares construction drawings and specificationsPossesses knowledge of applicable building codes in evaluating code complianceAttends construction meetings and prepares field reports as neededMay prepare project budgets and schedules for proposal effortsResponsible for personal task management, including adherence to project scope and schedule, and for that of staff assigned on allocated projectsSupports construction observation, answers RFIs and prepares change bulletinsLeads issue resolution and enhances project quality in communicating with clients and project teamsQualifications:Bachelor's degree in architecture; Master's preferredCurrent professional registration10 or more years of Architecture experienceExperience with designing NAVFAC, USACE and AFCEC facilities is a plusKnowledge of architectural design, documentation, detailing, building materials and codes, construction techniques and costs, as well as building material compatibility and characteristicsDesign and space planning skills commensurate with experience levelPractical knowledge of and ability to independently apply general architecture practiceKnowledge of industry standards, current product development, and architectural practicesThorough knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT with ability to work independently requiredKnowledge of sustainable principles and LEED AP accreditation a plusAbility to prioritize and concurrently manage multiple projectsStrong verbal and written communication skillsEffective problem solving and interpersonal skillsInteracts well with other disciplines and clients in a manner that builds productive relationshipsBenefits:Medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, disability and life insurance, paid time off, holiday pay, and 401(k) participation.All employment offers are contingent upon successfully completing a criminal background check and drug screen.
