Accounts Receivable Specialist

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Compensation: $25.00-$32.00 per hour

Job Type: Direct Hire | Full-Time

Our recruiting team is partnering with a reputable healthcare organization in Phoenix to hire an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist. This is an excellent direct-hire opportunity for a revenue cycle professional who excels at insurance follow-up, denial resolution, account reconciliation, and maximizing reimbursements.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical accounts receivable and a proven ability to work independently while managing a high-volume workload in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

What You'll Do

  • Follow up on outstanding insurance and patient accounts to secure timely reimbursement.
  • Investigate and resolve denied, underpaid, and rejected claims.
  • Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), remittance advice, and payer communications.
  • Prepare and submit appeals, corrected claims, and supporting documentation.
  • Research claim discrepancies and identify solutions to reimbursement issues.
  • Communicate with commercial insurance carriers, Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care organizations.
  • Document all account activity accurately within billing systems.
  • Collaborate with billing, coding, and revenue cycle teams to resolve complex account issues.
  • Monitor aging reports and prioritize accounts requiring immediate attention.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and healthcare industry regulations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical Accounts Receivable, Insurance Follow-Up, Healthcare Collections, or Revenue Cycle.
  • Strong understanding of medical billing, claim adjudication, denials, and appeals processes.
  • Experience working with commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care plans.
  • Ability to analyze account balances and identify payment discrepancies.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and healthcare billing software.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in a physician group, specialty practice, hospital, or healthcare organization.
  • Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding concepts.
  • Experience utilizing EMR and practice management systems.
