Job Description:

Applications System Administrator

Location: Washington, District of Columbia (Onsite)

Role Overview

An opportunity is available for an Application Systems Administrator to manage hybrid cloud and client/server-based systems. This role supports the performance, security, and reliability of business systems. Responsibilities include addressing server-related issues for COTS applications, collaborating on system build and configuration, and supporting end users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, maintain, and optimize client/server-based and hybrid cloud-based business application systems.
  • Identify and resolve application-related issues while working with functional teams or vendor support to address system issues and vulnerability response.
  • Assist in Jira Service Management platform administration and backend/process development and improvement.
  • Perform SQL Server Administration and database operations.
  • Assist in SharePoint Administration activities, including both front and back-end administration.
  • Provide technical support to end users to ensure effective access and utilization of business systems.
  • Use incident management practices to address system-level issues.
  • Provide analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills and work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

Experience: 4 years of experience as a system administrator managing hybrid cloud and/or client/server environments.

Technical Skills:

  • Experience with the Jira Service Management platform (back-end development) and incident & problem management practices.
  • Experience in SQL Server Administration and database operations.
  • Experience in Microsoft SharePoint Administration.
  • Experience with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and related processes.
  • Working knowledge of Configuration Management Platforms (e.g., IBM Rational or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in scripting for automation (e.g., PowerShell, Perl, or Bash).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications in ITIL Foundations, Atlassian Certified Jira Administrator, Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA): Database Fundamentals, Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, or Microsoft Certified: SharePoint Administrator Associate.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Access or Crystal Reports.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Terraform, or Ansible).
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Familiarity with incident management platforms for reporting, automation, and deployment.
