Job Summary

The Applications Engineer serves as the technical expert for OGP measurement systems, including video, multi-sensor, and bridge CMM platforms. This role is responsible for developing measurement routines, delivering high-level customer training, and driving equipment sales through technical demonstrations and feasibility studies.

Key Responsibilities

Measurement Programming: Develop complex measurement routines using OGP software platforms, including ZONE3, Measure-X, SNAP-X, and MeasureMind3D.

Sales Support & Demonstrations: Partner with the sales team to qualify technical applications. This includes traveling to customer sites to conduct live product demonstrations and technical presentations that showcase OGP Vision Metrology (VM) capabilities.

Technical Consultation: Analyze customer CAD models and engineering drawings to determine optimal measurement strategies and equipment configurations.

Customer Training: Deliver on-site and classroom-style training to ensure customer proficiency; provide ongoing troubleshooting and post-sales hardware/software support.

Field Support: Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support, diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues at customer facilities.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education/Experience: Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Optical) or equivalent technical experience in dimensional metrology or vision systems.

Technical Proficiency:

Expertise in reading engineering drawings and a deep understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).

Hands-on experience with CMMs or VMMs (Video Measuring Machines).

Prior experience with OGP systems and ZONE3 software is highly preferred.

Soft Skills: Strong communication skills with the ability to act as a technical partner and manage customer relationships effectively.

Operational Mindset: A self-starter capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Physical & Travel Requirements

Travel: Ability to travel up to 75% to customer sites for demonstrations, training, and technical support.

Heavy Lifting: Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry equipment or machined parts weighing over 100 lbs.

Machine Handling: Ability to safely maneuver and load/unload benchtop metrology machines in and out of transport vehicles.
