THE POSITION
This flexibly staffed class series specification describes the lead level classification in the Application Systems Engineer series. Under direction, to provide thought leadership and operational support for the Countyâs information systems, architect business solutions, and serve as a liaison between department/agency representatives and third-party service providers. Application Systems Engineer IIIâs are responsible for designing, developing, analyzing, implementing, and maintaining software, including enterprise-class, and multi-tier systems; and perform related duties as required.

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, the ideal candidate will possess excellent technical knowledge and skills; and demonstrate a high-level of ability to communicate, make decisions, work collaboratively, organize and plan, and prioritize the customer/client experience.

The Information Technology Department is filling multiple Application Services Engineer III positions within several units under Engineering, Systems Analysis, Business Analysis and Quality Assurance career tracks. Under direction, Application Systems Engineers provide support for the Countyâs information systems. Application Systems Engineer IIIs are responsible for designing, developing, analyzing, implementing, and maintaining software, including enterprise class, multi-tier systems; and perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Possession of a bachelorâs degree from an accredited college or university with a major in MIS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.Â
AND
Experience:
The equivalent of four (4) years full-time experience designing, developing, analyzing, supporting, and implementing complex software systems.Â
Substitution:
Three (3) additional years of full-time experience designing, developing, analyzing, supporting, and implementing complex software systems may be substituted for the education requirement.
NOTE: The Civil Service Commission may modify the above Minimum Qualifications in the announcement of an examination.
