Overview:

ENERCON’s Energy Group is seeking an Application Engineer to support the Business Development team with technical guidance and proposal development for the design of new power generation projects as opportunities transition from sales to fulfillment. This role will report to the Senior Manager of New Power Generation and be responsible for early promotion and development of optimal technical and economic value solutions to assist ENERCON clients with their strategic business decisions.   

 

This position has tremendous growth opportunities as you will interface with multiple ENERCON disciplines and teams to ensure the right solutions are offered and the design is executed effectively. As a member of the Energy Group business unit, the successful candidate will work cross-functionally with members of other business units including power delivery, environmental, data center, and industrial engineering groups. Preferred locations for the role include:

  • Kennesaw, GA (Suburb of Atlanta)
  • FT Worth, TX
  • Houston, TX
Responsibilities:

We are seeking driven candidates with a strong understanding of the fundamentals across a range of power generation technologies, systems, and processes. Candidates with experience developing proforma models and using tools such as Crystal Ball, PowerBI, and/or Thermoflow modeling software are preferred. This role is instrumental in expanding customer and market awareness while supporting ENERCON’s strategic growth into emerging power generation markets.

  • Technical Support & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside the Business Development team by providing proactive technical support using analytical tools and technology insight. Collaborate cross-functionally with members within the Power Delivery, Data Center, and Subject Matter Expert groups
  • Project & Program Assistance: Provide daily assistance for key energy projects involving gas turbines, reciprocating engines, plant upgrades, and distributed energy technologies (e.g., fuel cells, batteries, energy storage)
  • Strategic & Business Development: Aid in developing business management strategies.
    Manage a variety of customer relationships and coordinate with Business Development and Engineering to obtain necessary buy-in and approvals
  • Customer Solutions & Presentations: Develop technical customer solutions and present results via Microsoft Teams or in-person at customer locations
  • Site Evaluation: Conduct site visits for detailed information gathering as necessary for proposal development.   #LI-SH7
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology from accredited college
  • 3+ years of experience working on gas turbine and/or reciprocating engine power-generation technologies
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites and lead technical discussions
  • Effective and clear communication skills both written and verbal.  Ability to present company capabilities via Powerpoint presentations.  Ability to successfully interface with internal and external teams
  • Professional Engineering certification P.E. is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, logical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to translate complex data sets into clear and concise visuals which can be used for decision making
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with urgent deadlines
  • Experience in completing utility interconnect studies for power generation is preferred
  • Experience in developing a levelized cost of electricity and/or availability model is preferred
