Job Title: Application Developer
Job Description
This role focuses on providing comprehensive application support across multiple platforms, with a strong emphasis on SCADA and industrial automation systems integrated with modern cloud technologies. You will monitor and support data flows between field devices, gateways, and cloud platforms, ensuring high availability and reliability of mission-critical systems. The position involves close collaboration with engineering, DevOps, and product teams to resolve complex issues, deploy updates, and enhance system performance. You will also support customer onboarding, IoT integrations, and user enablement through training and documentation, contributing to a robust and scalable SaaS solution for energy automation and remote monitoring.
Responsibilities
- Provide Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 technical support for all platforms, including incident triage, troubleshooting, and resolution.
- Monitor system performance, data flow, and connectivity between field devices, gateways, and cloud platforms to ensure reliable operations.
- Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, and product teams to resolve escalated issues and assist with deploying patches, updates, and enhancements.
- Assist with onboarding new customers by configuring user accounts, setting up role-based access, and integrating solutions with existing customer systems.
- Support integration with IoT devices and related systems, including SCADA and industrial automation platforms.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of incidents, resolutions, configurations, and processes in the software incident response system.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support after-hours incidents, system maintenance activities, and critical alerts.
- Assist in developing and updating user training materials, FAQs, and knowledge base articles to improve self-service capabilities.
- Perform routine system health checks, including monitoring, backups, and failover testing in collaboration with infrastructure teams.
- Support and troubleshoot Windows Server and Linux environments used in the application ecosystem.
- Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of CI/CD pipelines and containerized environments where applicable.
- Work closely with a small team of software developers to ensure smooth operation and continuous improvement of the SaaS solution.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of experience in application support with a focus on SCADA or industrial automation environments.
- Hands-on experience in application support for SCADA or industrial automation systems, including incident triage and resolution.
- Strong understanding of SCADA concepts and communication protocols such as Modbus TCP/IP, OPC-UA, MQTT, CoAP, and DLMS/COSEM.
- Experience working with cloud platforms, specifically Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Understanding of databases and the ability to write SQL or related queries for troubleshooting and analysis.
- Experience supporting both Windows Server and Linux operating systems in a production environment.
- Familiarity with application support for SaaS solutions, including mobile and desktop applications.
- Ability to support integrations with IoT devices and industrial communication protocols such as Modbus.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a customer-focused mindset and the ability to handle issues across Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 support.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with engineering, DevOps, product teams, and customers.
- Proficiency with basic productivity tools such as Microsoft Office.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Certifications such as CompTIA Network+ or Security+ are a plus.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals or Azure Administrator Associate certifications are advantageous.
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or AWS SysOps Administrator certifications are beneficial.
- Certified SCADA Security Architect (CSSA) or ISA/IEC Cybersecurity Fundamentals certifications are valued.
- ITIL Foundation Certification is a plus and supports best practices in incident and service management.
- Experience with industrial automation platforms such as LabView.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes, and experience maintaining or creating CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with industrial cybersecurity best practices and secure operation of SCADA and IoT systems.
- Experience supporting mobile applications and desktop applications within a SaaS environment.
- Exposure to Azure Fundamentals concepts, including cloud services, networking, and security.
- Expereince in working with industrial or energy automation systems is advantageous.
- Interest in working with cutting-edge SCADA cloud technology that supports energy automation and remote monitoring.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with evolving cloud, automation, and cybersecurity technologies.
Work Environment
This is a remote position with standard hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours support, system maintenance, and critical alerts. You will collaborate closely with a small team of approximately five to six software developers in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. The technology stack includes SCADA and industrial automation systems, IoT devices, cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS, Windows Server and Linux environments, databases, and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes, as well as CI/CD pipelines. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
