This is a new position added to support patients with osteoporosis management. There is an identified need to improve the referral access for orthopedic patients with fragile fractures. This APP would work independently with guidance and support of the endocrinology physician team.Summary
The Endocrinology Nurse Practitioner provides advanced nursing care to patients with endocrine disorders such as diabetes, thyroid disease, osteoporosis, adrenal and pituitary disorders, and metabolic conditions. The NP works collaboratively with endocrinologists and healthcare teams to deliver comprehensive, evidence-based care, emphasizing patient education, disease management, and prevention.Job Description
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including history-taking, physical exams, and review of diagnostic tests. Diagnose and manage acute and chronic endocrine disorders. Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans. Prescribe medications and order diagnostic tests as per scope of practice and state regulations. Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly. Provide patient education on disease processes, medication management, lifestyle modifications, and self-care techniques. Collaborate with physicians, dietitians, diabetes educators, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes. Maintain accurate and timely medical records and documentation. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to stay current with advances in endocrinology. Facilitate referrals to specialists or community resources as needed. Support research activities or clinical trials, if applicable.Qualifications
Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. If APRN was licensed prior to August 1, 1995, master's degree in nursing is preferred.Sanford is an EEO/AA Employer M/F/Disability/Vet.
