Facility Central Patient Building Location Sioux Falls, SD Address 1305 W 18th St Sioux Falls, SD 57104 USA Shift 8 Hours - Day Shifts Job Schedule Full time Weekly Hours 40.00 Department Details Core Responsibilities • Clinical Practice: Patient-Focused Care - provides expert consultation for complex patient needs related to nutrition support and enteral feeding management. • Professional Development: serves as a clinical expert mentor and role model for nursing staff while promoting best practices through education coaching and clinical guidance. • Evidence-Based Practice and Research: evaluates current research and translates evidence into practice through clinical guidelines, protocols, and policies. • Member of a group of Clinical Nurse Specialists that are clinical experts who have a passion for delivering excellence in quality, safety, and patient experience.

Job Summary The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is an expert clinician and advocate in a particular specialty or subspecialty of nursing practice, providing leadership in the professional practice setting. Provides expert clinical guidance in a specialized field and coordinates patient care quality initiatives. This position specializes in nutrition support and enteral feeding management.

Key Responsibilities • Monitors the quality of patient indicators utilizing evidence-based outcomes and the development and implementation of performance and quality improvement processes as necessary. • Assesses a healthcare facilitys nursing practice and its impact on patient outcomes. • Uses the results of evaluation analysis to make or recommend process or structural changes, including policy, procedure, or protocol documentation as appropriate to clinical outcomes. • Provides consultative care and guidance while serving as a consultant, mentor, coach, researcher, and educator to patients, families, and employees. • Facilitates and collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams that contribute to role development and directly or indirectly advance nursing practice and health services.

Evaluation and Research • Develops evaluation strategies to demonstrate patient safety, cost-effectiveness, cost-benefit, and efficiency factors associated with nursing practice. • Identifies expected outcomes that are achievable through the implementation of evidence-based practices. • Systematically enhances the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice. • Evaluates the practice environment and quality of nursing care rendered in relation to existing evidence, identifying opportunities for the generation and use of research.

Dissemination of Research • Formally disseminates research findings through activities such as presentation, publications, consultation, and journal clubs. • Uses research-based data to assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of improved clinical practice for all ages, developmental needs, cultural, or psychosocial needs wherever needed.

Professional Development • Promotes the clinical practice by serving on hospital or community committees locally or nationally. • Must be able to incorporate teaching and learning principles and adapt teaching to age groups. • Must be able to work with growth and development needs of unique client populations.

Qualifications Successful completion of a masters, post-masters, or doctorate from a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). Demonstrated current competence and provision of care, treatment, or services to an adequate number of patients in the past twelve months or completion of an accredited CNS program in the past twelve months. Experience must correlate to the privileges requested. Certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or an equivalent body as applicable to the specialty area of practice. Current licensure by the applicable state. Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances if prescriptive privileges are sought.
