Job Title: API Test Engineer / Quality Engineer II
Location: Pittsburgh, PA | Lake Mary, FL (4+ Days Onsite)
Duration: 12 Months Contract
Pay Rate : $60 - $70/Hr 0n W2

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced API Test Engineer to support mission-critical system integrations by designing, executing, and automating REST API testing. This role focuses on service-level testing and ensuring API reliability, security, performance, and production readiness across complex bi-directional integrations.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience testing RESTful APIs, creating comprehensive test scenarios, and validating system integrations using industry-standard API testing tools.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and execute API test plans, test cases, and test scenarios.
  • Perform functional, integration, regression, and system testing for REST-based APIs.
  • Validate API request and response payloads, headers, authentication mechanisms, and status codes.
  • Execute positive, negative, boundary, and error-handling test scenarios.
  • Identify, document, and track defects through resolution.
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and project stakeholders to understand technical requirements and integration workflows.
  • Support automated API testing initiatives and continuous quality improvements.
  • Ensure APIs meet reliability, security, and production-readiness standards.
  • Participate in test planning, test execution, defect triage, and release validation activities.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, System Testing, or API Testing.
  • Strong hands-on experience testing REST APIs and web services.
  • Experience writing and executing detailed test cases and test scenarios.
  • Solid understanding of:
    • HTTP Methods (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE)
    • HTTP Status Codes (200, 201, 400, 401, 403, 404, 429, 500)
    • Request/Response Headers
    • JSON Request and Response Payloads
  • Experience validating API integrations and end-to-end system workflows.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Required Tools & Technologies
  • Postman
  • SoapUI
  • JMeter
  • Ping API
  • vREST
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Selenium automation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Experience working in enterprise-scale environments supporting complex integrations.
