AP1000 NSSS Vendor Quality & Compliance Engineer

Do you thrive at supplier sites—auditing systems, challenging assumptions, and confirming compliance to the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code? Are you energized by turning data into decisions that protect nuclear safety? If so, this role with our APX Supplier Quality Team may be for you.

Why this role matters

You will focus on suppliers providing ASME B&PV Code Section III materials and components for the AP1000 Nuclear Steam Supply System. Your work ensures every delivered part aligns with regulatory, customer, and engineering requirements.

Your impact areas

  • Plan & Oversight: Build and implement supplier surveillance and oversight plans that hold vendors to rigorous technical and quality standards.
  • Independent Assessments: Conduct objective evaluations confirming suppliers maintain effective quality management systems capable of producing compliant nuclear safety-related and Section III materials and components per purchasing documents.
  • Issue Resolution: Tackle supplier quality problems head-on, mitigating product impact and ensuring corrective and preventive actions take hold.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track progress toward quality targets, balancing cost and schedule.
  • Certification: Produce certification documentation for major equipment and components that clearly maps to required codes, standards, and customer specifications.
  • Global Compliance: Lead audits and assessments across the global supply base to verify adherence to applicable regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Technical Review: Scrutinize supplier quality plans and processes against Westinghouse Engineering requirements.
  • Data & Methods: Use advanced quality control and statistical techniques to collect deficiency data, identify root causes and trends, rate performance, and measure the effectiveness of supplier QA programs and internal processes.
  • QA Authoring: Write detailed QA plan/program segments aligned to the U.S. NRC, Westinghouse, and customer QA standards for both nuclear and non-nuclear facilities.
  • Records Governance: Implement policies defining scope and retention requirements for quality assurance documentation.

What you’ll need

  • BS in an engineering discipline.
  • 0–2+ years in supplier quality or a similar function.
  • Comfort with inspection tools (calipers, gauges, micrometers) and specialized IM&TE preferred.
  • Experience creating, reviewing, approving, and archiving electronic quality documents and records.
  • Ability to travel 40–50%.

Team, Location & Reporting

  • Team: APX Supplier Quality Team supporting AP1000 NSSS.
  • Manager: Reports to the Sr. Manager, Supplier Quality NSSS.
  • Workplace: Hybrid, based in Cranberry Township, PA (3 days remote). Relocation is not provided.

Pay Transparency

The base pay range is estimated at $58,400–$73,000 annually and depends on your experience, qualifications, and skills. We are committed to equity and transparency in our people practices.
