Greenville County Animal Care & Control is seeking a full-time Animal Control Officer to join our team. This position plays a vital role in protecting public health and safety by enforcing state and local animal laws, investigating cruelty and neglect, and responding to calls involving aggressive or injured animals. Animal Control Officers serve as commissioned code enforcement officers and must be capable of handling complex and sometimes high-risk situations with professionalism, compassion, and sound judgment. The role involves conducting field investigations, issuing citations, educating the public, and supporting law enforcement during emergencies. Candidates must have strong communication skills, experience with animal handling, and the ability to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends, evenings, and periodic on-call duty. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with a valid South Carolina Driver"s License, a clean 10-year driving record, and the ability to pass a background check. Certifications in animal control and cruelty investigations will be required within the first year of employment.
