Anesthesia Technician/ Anesthesia Tech - Evenings

Assignment Details

  • Position: Anesthesia Technician
  • Shift: 1:30 PM – 10:30 PM
  • Schedule Requirements:
    • Weekends as needed
    • Holidays as needed
    • On-call and callback coverage required

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient & Anesthesia Support
    • Assist in the care of patients undergoing anesthesia by preparing anesthesia equipment prior to patient arrival.
    • Set up anesthesia monitors and ensure all anesthesia equipment is clean, functional, and ready for use.
    • Prepare medications, specialized equipment, and supplies required for anesthesia procedures where applicable.
    • Maintain continuous communication with anesthesiologists, CRNAs, residents, and anesthesia technologists to support workflow and patient care.
    • Assist clinicians during difficult intubations and central venous catheter placements.
  • Advanced Surgical Case Support
    • Operate the Cell Saver machine during surgical procedures.
    • Monitor and track laboratory reports throughout surgical cases.
    • Provide anesthesia support for complex procedures including:
      • Cardiac Surgery
      • Liver Transplant
      • Vascular Surgery
      • Thoracic Surgery
      • Trauma Surgery
      • Other advanced surgical specialties
    • Work closely with specialty-specific physicians and Division Chiefs.
    • Participate in required on-call coverage.
  • Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting
    • Ensure anesthesia equipment is maintained in optimal working condition.
    • Perform preventive maintenance and advanced troubleshooting on anesthesia equipment.
    • Set up, operate, and maintain sophisticated anesthesia-related equipment.
    • Serve as a technical resource for specialized anesthesia equipment and devices.
  • Training & Education
    • Assist the Chief Anesthesia Technologist with the development and implementation of in-service education programs.
    • Support orientation and ongoing training of new anesthesia technologists and staff.
    • Educate team members on equipment operation, safety protocols, and departmental procedures.
  • Equipment Testing & Technical Support
    • Perform setup, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of:
      • Anesthesia Machines
      • Infusion Pumps
      • Nerve Stimulators
      • Defibrillators
      • Patient Transport Monitors
      • Fiberoptic Bronchoscopes
      • Video Monitoring Systems
  • Operating Room & Procedural Support
    • Prepare and turnover operating rooms between surgical cases.
    • Restock anesthesia carts and procedure rooms throughout the day.
    • Coordinate with other hospital departments to ensure availability of specialized anesthesia equipment.
    • Provide anesthesia equipment setup and support for out-of-operating-room procedures and remote procedural locations.
  • Leadership & Administrative Support
    • Provide backup coverage for the Shift Supervisor during absences.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor, Chief Anesthesia Technologist, or Operations Manager.
    • Support departmental workflow, quality improvement initiatives, and regulatory compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • Current BLS Certification
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Anesthesia Technician experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with related technical training or
  • Associate degree with technical training plus two years of relevant experience or
  • Equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Certification through the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists (ASATT) or another nationally recognized professional certifying body preferred.
  • Strong experience supporting complex surgical specialties in a high-acuity operating room environment.
  • Excellent technical troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.
