Tesla is looking for highly motivated laboratory lead technicians to oversee routine quality testing and support failure analysis processes for our cutting-edge Tesla battery cell manufacturing program. In this role you would work closely with lab management drive high standards of safety, quality, and output on your shift. The work environment is demanding, fast-paced and incredibly exciting. Lead & coordinate incoming lab activities including properly assigning priorities and allocating resources
Act as the first point of contact for critical analytical lab testing, escalations, vendor visits, and new method roll outs when supervisor is unavailable
Oversee & train new techs on a variety of routine testing on battery cells and associated materials following established procedures including chemical analysis of raw materials such as: electrolyte composition by IC, GC and NMR; acid/base titration; conductivity; density; moisture content by Karl Fischer; powder rheology; particle size distribution; thermogravimetric analysis; SEM/EDS analysis; mechanical parts cleanliness; BET; ICP; and FTIR
Interpret test data and generate laboratory test reports
Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as required
Enforce 5S and workplace hygiene standards
Lead standard verification testing on tools & instruments
Support the Company's mission, vision, values and goals in performance of daily activities
1+ year of Tesla analytical lab technician experience
High proficiency in Tesla analytical lab test methods including powder rheometer, KF moisture analyzers, GC, IC, NMR, ICP, acid-base titrators, SEM, TGA, mechanical parts cleanliness, and FTIR
Natural leader, can motivate and drive a team to hit KPI's and objectives
Detail oriented, excels at performing repetitive tasks where both high degrees of accuracy and precision are required with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Bachelor's degree preferred in a relevant science (e.g. Chemistry, Metallurgy), or equivalent experience
Strong command of the English language, both written and verbal
