A day in the life
- Start by reviewing maintenance schedules and qualification plans for LC‑MS, GC‑MS, QTOF, triple quad, and HPLC/UPLC instruments.
- Calibrate, perform preventive maintenance, and complete installation/qualification support to uphold data integrity in GMP/GLP environments.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, software, and analytical performance issues—minimizing downtime through rapid, root-cause troubleshooting.
- Partner with scientists and engineers as the instrumentation SME, advising on best practices and reliability risks.
- Document activities in our systems and support continuous improvement initiatives that elevate instrument uptime and compliance.
What you’ll own
- Installation, calibration, repair, and qualification support for Mass Spectrometry (LC‑MS, GC‑MS, QTOF, triple quad) and HPLC/UPLC systems.
- Troubleshooting across fluidics, vacuum systems, detectors, and associated software.
- Subject matter expertise for assigned analytical instrumentation.
Reporting and location
You will report to the Metrology Manager. This is an on-site role based in Torrance within the Manufacturing Science & Technology function.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Analytical Sciences, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 3+ years hands-on servicing of Mass Spectrometry and HPLC systems within regulated pharma/biotech/diagnostics/CRO labs.
- Strong working knowledge of LC‑MS/MS, HPLC/UPLC principles, fluidics, vacuum systems, detectors, and instrumentation software.
- Proven experience operating under GMP and/or GLP.
Bonus points for:
- Automating processes to drive more efficient analyses.
- Using a CMMS for maintenance planning, documentation, and recordkeeping.
Compensation & benefits
Base salary range: $100,000 – $115,000 (range may be updated). This role is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
