Job Description and Duties

Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced remote-centered environment with variety in your work? The California Department of Insurance (CDI) is seeking a dynamic Analyst III with experience working with FI$CaL data to develop annual budgets. If this is you, then CDI may be the employer for you!

Under the general direction of the Assistant Chief Budget Officer - Expenditure (Staff Services Manager II), the Analyst III serves as the Budget Specialist and is responsible for preparing and organizing the annual budget development cycle for the California Department of Insurance (CDI). This includes preparing, developing, and administering of the department's annual budget with the Department of Finance (DOF) via FI$Cal - Hyperion.

Responsible for developing and maintaining the Financial and Business Management Division - Budget and Revenue Management (FBMD-BRMB) systems and converting FI$Cal reports for the Budget Office. Responsible for developing, preparing, monitoring, and presenting financial data for executive management and Branches/Programs. Responsible for preparing and monitoring the monthly/quarterly reviews of expenditures for the complex Enforcement Branch's multi-million budget which includes the Fraud Division and Investigation Division.

Coordinates with internal and external agencies and serves as the subject matter expert on fiscal-related topics and issues.

Effective July 1, 2025, the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025 and related Pay Differential 386.

PLP 2025 requires employees to receive a reduction in pay in exchange for monthly hours of PLP 2025 leave credits. The salary range(s) included on this job posting do not reflect the reduction in pay. For more information, visit the CalHR website (www.calhr.ca.gov).

Working Conditions

The incumbent must be able to work in a high-rise building. The incumbent may telework in accordance with CDIs Telework Policy. Teleworking employees may be required to report to their headquarters office location on designated telework days. Travel expenses are not reimbursed, however other authorized transit subsidies do exist for those who qualify. May be required to work overtime with limited notice.
