Analyst III – Actuarial Services
Fully Remote (California Residents Only) | Direct Placement | Southern California Health Plan
Not every actuarial role is created equal—and this one stands out.
We are working with a respected Southern California health plan to place an actuarial analyst III who has genuinely lived in managed care pricing. This is a direct placement opportunity on a cohesive, tenured, and selective team.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in Medi-Cal, Medicare, or Covered California health plan pricing — not just exposure to it. You'll provide actuarial analytic support across departments and key company initiatives, serving as a technical consultant and subject matter expert to financial analysts and leadership. What You'll Do
- Lead ongoing analyses of financial, budgetary, and medical claims data through forecasting, statistical analyses, trending, regression analyses, risk assessment, and utilization assessment
- Build financial models to support operational initiatives and enable decision-making on business and strategic matters—quantifying financial impact and testing/reconciling all results
- Consolidate a wide range of operating and financial projections for development of short- and long-term business plans
- Generate and distribute regularly scheduled actuarial reports; monitor and analyze data using statistical tools to identify variances, trends, and aberrant data
- Participate in or lead special studies and ad hoc analyses in support of departmental business and clinical objectives
- Research and resolve data integrity issues, working independently or cross-functionally
- Serve as a resource to staff across departments—answering questions related to financial data and referring complex issues as appropriate
- Communicate and present financial analyses and models to appropriate audiences
What You Bring
- 4 years of actuarial experience required (or 3 years with completed ASA credential)
- Healthcare and/or Medicaid, Covered California health plan, and pricing experience required
- Passed at least 4 SOA exams with plans to continue—exam momentum matters here
