We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and community-minded individual to serve as an AmeriCorps Nursing Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting student health, wellness, and safety. Working directly under the supervision of the District School Nurse(s) and health room staff, you will help ensure that students remain healthy and ready to learn. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in public health, pediatric nursing, or education to gain hands-on experience while serving the Stevens Point community.
Key Responsibilities
Health Room Support: Assist the school nurse with daily health room operations, including providing basic first aid and comfort to students experiencing illness or minor injuries.
Medication & Treatments: Assist in the supervised administration of prescribed medications and routine medical treatments in accordance with district policies and training.
Health Screenings: Support the planning and execution of district-wide health screenings (e.g., vision, hearing, and dental).
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, confidential student health logs, immunization records, and daily visit documentation using district software.
Student Wellness Promotion: Assist in developing and delivering health, hygiene, and wellness educational materials or campaigns for students and staff.
Emergency Response: Serve as a trained responder during school medical emergencies, supporting staff until emergency personnel arrive.
Parent Communication: Under the direction of the school nurse, communicate with parents and guardians regarding student minor injuries, illnesses, or missing health documentation.
